The Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT) is paid annually for every truck that is used on public highways and is rated with a gross vehicle weight of 55,000 pounds or more. We recommend that you e-file your 2290 Form at least five days prior to the due date. The 2290 Form is due annually between July 1 and August 31. The Heavy Vehicle Use Tax must be paid by the deadline every year in order to avoid penalties and interest.
The 2290 is the IRS Form used to file and pay for Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT). All vehicles that use the public highway system and have a rated GVW of 55,000 lbs. or more are required to file and pay the HVUT annually. HVUT is a federal program put in place to help repair the roads due to the wear and tear by these heavy vehicles. The taxes collected from the IRS 2290 helps keep the highway system in good maintenance by funding their continued repair costs.
The Schedule 1 is a watermarked document from the IRS that provides proof of payment for the 2290 HVUT. We will email you the stamped Schedule 1 upon approval of your 2290 filing with the IRS. We also securely store a copy of your Schedule 1 if you ever need to download and print it in the future.
